Structural Engineering Design & Analysis
ERB-registered structural engineers delivering rigorous analysis, safe design, and construction-ready documentation for every structure we certify.
Structural Engineering Excellence
East Prowess Limited's structural engineering team comprises ERB-registered professional engineers with extensive experience in the analysis, design, and certification of structures across all building typologies and civil infrastructure. Our structural designs are produced to the highest standards, referencing British Standards (BS 8110, BS 5950, BS 5400), ACI 318, and Eurocode 2, 3, and 7 as appropriate to the project and client requirements.
Structural analysis is performed using industry-standard software including ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, and SAFE — enabling three-dimensional finite element modelling of complex structural systems, seismic and wind analysis, dynamic response analysis, and post-tensioning design. Every analysis model is independently reviewed by a senior engineer before design proceeds, ensuring accuracy and eliminating modelling errors.
Foundation engineering is a particular area of expertise. East Prowess structural engineers routinely design shallow foundations (pad, strip, raft), deep foundations (driven precast piles, bored cast-in-place piles), and specialist solutions including under-reamed piles and micro-piles for constrained or sensitive sites — informed by geotechnical investigation data interpreted jointly with our civil engineering team.
- ERB-Certified Engineer of Record — Signed and stamped structural drawings legally required for all Tanzanian building approvals

Foundation Engineering
Shallow and deep foundation design — pad, raft, strip, driven pile, bored pile, and micro-pile solutions — optimised against geotechnical investigation data and site constraints.
Reinforced Concrete Structures
Design of RC frames, flat slabs, post-tensioned slabs, shear walls, cores, transfer structures, and precast elements to BS 8110, ACI 318, or Eurocode 2.
Steel Frame Structures
Design of structural steelwork — portal frames, multi-storey steel frames, trusses, mezzanines, canopies, and composite steel-concrete floor systems to BS 5950 or Eurocode 3.
Structural Assessments & Due Diligence
Independent structural condition surveys, load capacity assessments, due diligence reports for property acquisition, and structural investigations for insurance or legal proceedings.
Seismic & Wind Analysis
Dynamic analysis for seismic loading in accordance with EN 1998 (Eurocode 8) and wind loading analysis to BS 6399 — essential for tall structures and critical facilities.
Our Structural Engineering Process
A rigorous six-stage process from ground investigation through to construction certification — ensuring every structure is safe, efficient, and buildable.
Site Investigation & Geotechnical
Borehole drilling, SPT testing, laboratory soil analysis, and geotechnical report preparation — establishing safe bearing capacities, groundwater levels, and settlement characteristics.
Structural Concept Design
Preliminary structural scheme development — exploring multiple framing options, foundation strategies, and material choices. Concept-level cost estimates prepared by in-house QS for client decision-making.
Detailed Engineering Design
Full structural analysis and design using ETABS/SAP2000/STAAD.Pro — member sizing, reinforcement design, connection design, and code compliance verification with complete calculation packages.
Structural Detailing & Drawings
Construction-ready structural drawings produced in AutoCAD or Revit — general arrangement plans, section details, connection details, bar bending schedules, and fabrication drawings for steel.
Construction Stage Review
Shop drawing review and approval, response to contractor RFIs, site inspection visits at critical construction stages, concrete pour approvals, and structural monitoring where required.
Final Certification
Structural completion certificate issued by the ERB-registered engineer of record, confirming the structure has been constructed in accordance with the approved structural design.
Software & Analysis Tools
Our structural engineers use industry-leading analysis and design software, ensuring rigour, accuracy, and compatibility with international standards.

Structural Engineering — Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. East Prowess provides standalone structural engineering services to third-party contractors, developers, and building owners who require independent structural design and certification. We act as structural engineer of record, providing signed and stamped drawings, calculation packages, and ERB-certified structural completion certificates. We also provide peer review and independent checking of designs prepared by others.
Our structural engineers are proficient in British Standards (BS 8110 for RC, BS 5950 for steel, BS 5400 for bridges), ACI 318 (US concrete code), and the full Eurocode suite (EN 1990–1998). The choice of code is guided by the client's requirements, the project funding source, and any contractual obligations. For Tanzania Building Authority submissions, we ensure all designs comply with applicable local requirements regardless of the base design code used.
Yes. Structural condition surveys and assessments are a core part of our service offering. We conduct visual inspections, non-destructive testing (carbonation depth, rebar cover measurement, rebound hammer, and ground-penetrating radar as required), and structural analysis to determine load-carrying capacity. Assessment reports are issued for due diligence, insurance, renovation planning, or regulatory compliance purposes — all signed by an ERB-registered engineer.
Design programme depends heavily on project complexity. A straightforward residential or small commercial building structural design typically takes 3–6 weeks from receipt of complete architectural drawings. A medium-complexity multi-storey commercial building requires 6–12 weeks for full detailed design and drawing production. Complex structures, bridge designs, or projects requiring specialist dynamic analysis may require 3–6 months. We provide a detailed design programme at the outset of each engagement.
Yes. Structural strengthening design is a specialist service we provide for buildings undergoing renovation, change of use, additional storey construction, or post-earthquake or impact damage repair. Strengthening solutions may include carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) wrapping, section enlargement, post-installed anchors, steel plate bonding, or new structural elements. All strengthening designs are supported by structural analysis and issued with ERB-certified documentation.
